New Zealand is advising surgeons to prioritise patients based on their skin colour. Back to the bad ol’ days we go!
According to the NZ Herald:
Health New Zealand has introduced an Equity Adjustor Score, which aims to reduce inequity in the system by using an algorithm to prioritise patients according to clinical priority, time spent on the waitlist, geographic location (isolated areas), ethnicity, and deprivation level.
So, we’re going to deal with inequality by implementing further inequality? Makes sense…
